Accompaniment and Assistance for Passengers Requiring Assistance
Accompaniment and Assistance for Passengers Requiring Assistance
Under Israel’s Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, airlines are responsible for attending to passengers requiring assistance and to their luggage, from the moment they enter the terminal building or disembark from the aircraft. Accordingly, in practice, ground handling companies provide this service at Ben-Gurion Airport.
The Israel Airports Authority is responsible for providing the physical infrastructure necessary for service providers to provide service to passengers requiring assistance, as required by law. The service includes accompanying and assisting passengers requiring assistance throughout their “passenger process”.
To receive this service, passengers should inform their airline in advance and, upon arriving at the terminal, contact the ground handling company that provides services for their airline.
Under law, some of the service desks at the airport are equipped with induction loop systems for people with hearing impairments.
The systems installed at Ben Gurion Airport are designed for people with hearing aids. The system also includes an earpiece, allowing its use by people who do not have a hearing aid or a telecoil in their hearing aid.
Ben Gurion Airport’s management has had these systems installed at numerous desks throughout all terminal halls, including:
* Check-in desks
* Security checkpoints
* Boarding gate desks
* Passport control desks
* Information desks
* Lost and found desks
Each desk equipped with an induction loop is marked with the appropriate signage

Short-term Parking: All airport parking lots offer up to 5 hours of free parking for holders of valid disability parking permits approved by the Ministry of Transport. Any parking time exceeding 5 hours will be subject to the standard parking rates of the parking lot where the vehicle is parked.
* The parking fee exemption is granted only to the permit holder and is contingent on the vehicle registration number matching the number listed on the disability parking permit. In accordance with the Parking for People with Disabilities Law, 5754-1993, the parking permit is intended solely for the personal use of the person with a disability. The use of a disability parking permit is permitted only when the person with a disability is driving the vehicle or is a passenger on the vehicle and accompanied by a companion. Unauthorized use of the permit constitutes a criminal offense punishable by a fine.
How to claim the parking fee exemption:
To claim the parking fee exemption, proceed to the exit barrier in any lane. Press the help button (intercom) on the payment machine or call the control center at 03-9752550, extension 4. On being instructed by the controller, present your disability parking permit at the designated location. After a brief verification of the permit details, vehicle information, and parking duration, the fee exemption will be granted, and the barrier will open for free passage.
Long-term parking (over 24 hours):
Parking is not free for holders of disability parking permits who park their vehicles long-term. Parking exceeding 5 hours requires payment according to the parking lot rates.
Designated parking spaces for people with disabilities are marked in accordance with the required standard and are located as close as possible to service areas. Payment is according to the rates of the parking lot where the vehicle is parked.
* Special arrangement for long-term parking for holders of the “Blue Badge” disability parking permit (the badge bearing a wheelchair symbol): Passengers with a Blue Badge can park in the parking lot next to Terminal 3 on the same payment terms as the main long-term parking lot. To claim the parking fee exemption, proceed to the exit barrier in any lane. Press the help button (intercom) on the payment machine or call the control center at 03-9752550, extension 4. On being instructed by the controller, please present your disability parking permit at the designated location. After a quick verification of the permit details, vehicle information, and parking duration, the fee exemption will be granted and the barrier will open for free passage.
Additional information: Charges are according to the parking lot rates. For more information, please contact the parking control at 03-9752551, 03-9752550.
The passageways in the parking lots include curb cuts in designated areas. All parking lots have wide and accessible elevators.
Shuttles – All buses transporting passengers are accessible to people with disabilities in accordance with regulations. You can ask the driver for assistance at any time.
To request a service representative from the ground handling company in Terminal 1, please go to the assisted passengers desk (for passengers requiring special assistance or a wheelchair) located inside the terminal near Gate 4.
Passengers who present a digital or physical exemption certificate to service providers at Ben Gurion Airport will receive the required service.
An accessible Alpha station is available inside the terminal, opposite Gate 2.
