1,193,169 international passengers passed through Ben-Gurion Airport in July 2008 – an increase of 3 per cent compared with July 2007. July has been the busiest month ever at Ben-Gurion Airport. At the end of the month, on Thursday, July 31, a new record was set for passenger traffic in a single day, with 54,857 passengers passing through the airport.
Since the beginning of the year, 6.2 million international passengers have passed through Ben-Gurion Airport, an increase of 13 per cent against the same period last year. International aircraft traffic in July stood at 7,381 flights, an increase of 10 per cent against 2007. Of the 1,193,169 incoming and outgoing passengers in July, 579,103 were incoming and 614,066 were outgoing.
IAA Director General, Kobi Mor, said: "July and August are the busiest months of the year. The IAA has geared itself up to handle the peak passenger traffic and has increased its personnel in all sectors by about 5 per cent. We are ready to deal with the increase in passenger traffic and to provide international-standard, courteous and efficient service, so that passengers will also enjoy the pre-flight experience."
