Peak season at Ben Gurion Airport, which began in July, is expected to continue through the summer months, and end after the holiday season of the month of Tishrei. However, with the numbers in for the month of June (before peak season), it appears that June was also one of the busiest months for Ben Gurion Airport.

About 822 thousand passengers entered and departed the country on 6,212 international flights during the month of June. The busiest day of the month was Thursday, June 29th, 2006, when approximately 42,000 passengers on 267 passed through Terminal 3. June 2006 registered an increase of 4.5% in international passenger traffic, relative to June 2005. As part of the general preparations for the peak season, IAA CEO Gabi Ofir directed the management of Ben Gurion Airport to add manpower and other resources to all units operating at the Airport, in order to ensure a free flow of summer vacationers. At the same time, Ofir once again recommended to the traveling public that they make use of the biometric system service to register and pass through border control, free of charge.

It is worth mentioning that during the summer months, and through the preparations for the High Holiday season, Ben Gurion Airport will maintain the same format and standards of customer service, designating fast check-in for Israeli passengers carrying only hand luggage, as well as special check-in lanes for business travelers of all sectors, adding stands with free luggage carts, and providing porter services, free wireless Internet services, a mother-and-child room and play corners at no charge, for the benefit of the passengers of the future generation.
