On Thursday Dec.21 2006 the Israel Airports Authority issued a tender for the operation of a shop selling sunglasses at the Buy & Bye mall at Terminal 3. The tender’s aim is to find an operator for a shop selling sunglasses, reading glasses, eyeglasses and other optical products. This is the first in a series of tenders for shops at the Buy & Bye commercial center, which the IAA intends to issue in the coming months. The objective of these tenders is to renew the look of the mall and change the mix of shops it offers.
An analysis of the activity at the Buy & Bye mall, carried out by the IAA's Commercial Department at the end of two years of operation, indicated that the mall, which was intended to serve passengers and those accompanying them, mainly appeals to the younger crowd, and therefore it was decided to focus on leading fashion brands.
It is worth noting that, according to IAA data, a large portion of the shops at the Buy & Bye mall achieved a turnover similar to and even higher than that of shops in large malls. IAA's Commercial Department has decided that the new mix of shops, which, as mentioned above, will include mainly clothing and accessory shops, will help establish the position of Buy & Bye as a commercial attraction in its own right, within the array of shops at Ben Gurion Airport.
The duration of the permit granted by the tender to the shop’s operator will be 24 months, beginning on the first day of service.
