Operations Division

The Operations Division was set up in 1978 for the purpose of managing, developing and operating Israel's civilian air traffic system, by means of two control units (north and south), five control towers (Rosh Pina, Herzliya, BGIA, Eilat and Ovda) and two Flight briefing units (BGIA and Eilat).  The Division includes the following staff units:

·          The Office of the Operations Deputy Director General, with overall responsibility for air traffic management by means of the staff unit and the operational units.

·          Air Traffic Officer,  directly responsible for operating flight supervision and control units and planning air space.

·          Operational Planning & Development Officer, responsible for systems development, procurement and budgetary control.

·          Head of the AIS (Aeronautical Information Services), responsible for developing methodologies and procedures in the area of AIS, giving professional assistance to the units in BGIA and Eilat, and responsible for coordinating abnormal air activity in the air space.

·          Operations Standards Officer, coordinates handling of building restrictions around airfields, development of airfields in operational terms, and coordination of operating standards with the Civil Aviation Administration.

·          Air Traffic Systems Planner, responsible for planning flight paths and air space for instrument flying and their conformance with international standards.

·          Chief flight Controller, responsible for professional matters in the area of flight control and supervision, including operational training in Israel and abroad and maintaining a proper professional level.
