The Israel Airports Authority operates through the Authority’s Council and its Management. According to the law, the Authority Council numbers fifteen members – the Council Chairman, seven representatives from the public, and seven State employees. The members of the Authority Council are appointed by the Minister of Transportation, with the approval of the Government, for a term of office of four years.
The Authority Council operates through seven committees – the Finance Committee, the Safety and Security Committee, the Development Committee, the Auditing Committee, the Management, Organization and Human Resources Committee, the Domestic Airports And Terminals Committee, and the Committee for International Affairs. The committees convene frequently for professional discussions, each in its own area of responsibility. The decisions reached by the committees are submitted for approval to the Authority Council.
The Authority Council charts the IAA's strategy and policy for the management, operation and development of the airports and border terminals under its responsibility. In addition, the Authority Council and its various committees are responsible for controlling and supervising the ongoing implementation of its policy by the IAA Management.
