Fees – Valid from January 1, 2010:
All travelers to Egypt must pay a border-crossing fee before leaving Israel.
The border-crossing fee is NIS 94 per traveler. The fee is quoted in NIS and is updated once a year (on January 1) linked to the Consumer Price Index.
The Israel Airports Authority and Change Place Ltd. operate a service allowing travelers to pay the border-crossing fee at the border terminals using the Change Place website.
Paying through the website saves time by streamlining the crossing process.

The service is provided by Change Place Ltd. and on the company's responsibility.
Passengers exempt from the passage fee:
1. A passenger bearing a diplomatic passport or a passport with a diplomatic visa, or a certificate confirming his being one of the following:
a. A UN employee serving in the UNTSO
b. A member of the Multinational Force
c. A member of the International Red Cross
2. A UNRWA official, appearing on a list approved for this purpose by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
3. An infant under the age of 2 years.
4. The crew of a public transport bus - bus driver and attendant.
5. A driver of a commercial vehicle leaving Israel in a commercial vehicle, which he is driving as part of his job in transporting goods to or from Israel.
6. Any person taking part in a rescue search, in providing medical assistance to injured persons, or in any other humanitarian activity.
7. A member of a government delegation, passing on official business, and appearing on a list approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Rates for those crossing by vehicle:
On the Israeli side
Translation of vehicle license – 11 NIS (It is recommended to do this at one of the MEMSI (Israel Automobile Club) branches throughout the country).
Issuing an international driver’s license – 11 NIS.
Comprehensive insurance valid for 3 months in the Sinai area and Jordan (not compulsory) – 329 NIS.
On the Egyptian side
Vehicle registration, customs, compulsory vehicle insurance and issuing Egyptian vehicle license plates - 190 Egyptian Pounds.
(It is recommended to keep the vehicle license plates and the small paper documents that the Egyptians write and give you - this saves time and money).
Total cost of passage for a vehicle is close to 500 NIS (including insurance).
