Is the Terminal open 24 hours a day
 

The Terminal is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with the exception of Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement) and the Muslim Feast of Sacrifice

On Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement) and the Muslim Feast of Sacrifice, notifications are sent to the media – it is recommended to follow the notices in the papers in order to find out the exact hours of operation.

I heard that there are long queues at the Terminal. Is there anything that I can do to reduce the waiting at the Terminal
 

Definitely. On festivals and holidays particularly, it is recommended to take care of the following ahead of time:

Payment of the transit fee  at the Post Office Bank.

Exchange Israeli currency

For those crossing over in their own vehicles - translate the car registration papers into English and take out  insurance at one of the MEMSI (Israel Automobile Club) branches in the country.

On days of congestion at the Terminal, at what time is it best to arrive
 

On festivals and holidays particularly, the majority of passengers arrive at the Terminal at 05:00 AM, therefore congestion is expected at those times.

Times recommended for passing through the Terminal:

09:00 – 12:00 in the morning, 17:00 - 22:00 in the evening, and during the night.

Are there ATMs at the Terminal to withdraw cash
 

No. ATMs are available in the town of Taba At the Terminal you will only be able to exchange foreign currency and withdraw foreign currency, using credit cards.

What is the distance from the Terminal to Dahab
 

From Taba to Nueba - 70 km.

From Taba to Dahab - 142 Km.

From Taba to Sharm el Sheikh - 231 km.

From Nueba to Dahab - 72 km.

From Taba to St. Catherine's (Santa Katarina) - 185 km.

I heard that I am eligible for a tax refund upon my from Egypt. Is this true
 

Passengers crossing over to Egypt must pay the transit fee.

Passengers staying in the Taba Hilton Hotel area, are exempt from this fee.

Obtaining an exemption is dependent on submitting documents attesting to your staying in the area.

 

A passenger who paid the transit fee at the time of crossing over to Egypt, will be entitled to a refund, upon his return to Israel though the Taba Terminal, upon submitting the following documents:

1.   The original receipt of the payment of the transit fee.

2.   A Passport

3.  An original invoice from the Taba Hilton Hotel, in the name of the passenger, attesting to his sojourn in the Taba area during the entire period of the visit.

 

A passenger who stayed for a few days at the Taba Hilton Hotel and then continued on to Sinai, even if only for a few hours, is not eligible for a refund.

What documents are required to cross over to Egypt
 

A passport valid for at lest 3 months.

It is not possible to extend the validity of the passport at the Terminal.

               

Israeli passengers who hold dual citizenship are obliged to present their Israeli passports on the Israeli side. Other passports will not be accepted.

               

Visas are required for the following passengers:

New immigrants holding orange Laissez Passer documents.

Residents holding Laissez Passer documents.

 

Visas are issued at the Egyptian Embassy in Israel.

 

Passengers crossing over in their own vehicles are required to present car registration papers in English as detailed below.

Do I require an Egyptian visa to cross over
 

Passengers crossing over to Taba and to Sinai and along the coast up to the Sharm el Sheikh area, for a period not exceeding 14 days, do not require an Egyptian Visa.

 

Who does require a visa?

 

Passengers traveling further west than the Santa Katarina Monastery, even if the sojourn is for less than 14 days.

Travelers to Cairo.

Passengers traveling on Laissez Passer documents.

I am a new immigrant in Israel – What do I need to cross over to Egypt
 

Documents required by a new immigrant wishing to cross over to Egypt:

 

If you do not yet have an Israeli passport, use your Laissez Passer. At the Israeli side present your Laissez Passer, and at the Egyptian side present your foreign passport.

 

If you do not have a foreign passport, you must obtain an Egyptian visa, which should be done at least two weeks in advance.

I have two passports– Israeli and British. Can I cross only with the British one
 

An Israeli citizen must cross over on his Israeli passport.

You must ensure that your Israeli passport is valid, otherwise you will not be able to pass through the border crossing.
