Clarifications:
By law it is mandatory to operate a taximeter on every special taxi journey, and the fare will be determined according to the taximeter reading.

The driver is entitled to add extra charges to the fare - see extra charges section.

The passenger is entitled to choose either of the following options for determining the fare: “taximeter” or “fare quote”.

Taximeter:                                                                                                                                                                        In this option, the taximeter measures the distance traveled and calculates the fare for the journey, including a charge for “waiting time” and “standing time” (traffic jams, accidents, roadblocks etc.). The driver must activate the taximeter at the beginning of the journey and stop it on arrival at the final destination. The fare will appear on the taximeter display and on a tax invoice.

Information about the taxi and about the driver will be printed on the invoice, as well as the date and time the invoice was issued, the tariff, the time the journey commenced and ended, the distance traveled in km, the fare and details of the extra charges.

Note:  The taximeter automatically calculates and applies the changes between tariffs 1 and 2, and updates the travel fare accordingly. Please demand a tax invoice from the driver at the end of the journey.

“Fare quote":

The taximeter has a pre-defined tariff chart for 71 destinations from Ben-Gurion International Airport to different regions throughout the country. (This option is not applicable to journeys to and from destinations that are not included in the chart. In these cases the driver must operate the taximeter – as specified above).

In this option the fare is pre-determined according to the tariff chart, based on the distance between the city centers. When this option is chosen, the driver must activate the taximeter and display the fare to the customer from the point of origin of the journey to the final destination.

On completion of the journey the driver must stop the taximeter. Please demand a tax invoice from the driver at the end of the journey.

Information about the taxi and about the driver will be printed on the invoice, as well as the date, the time the journey commenced and ended, the point of origin and the final destination, the tariff, the fare and details of the extra charges.

Note:  The tariff, either 1 or 2, is set at the start of the journey when the fare quote is given and does not change during the journey.

Tariffs:

The tariffs that appear in the chart and in the extra charges section comply with the valid and updated Commodities and Services Price Control Order.

Tariff 2:

Applies to night journeys between 21:01 and 05:29 the following day. The tariff also applies to the Sabbath, the day before holidays, Jewish holidays and Independence Day, from 16:00 until 05:29 on the day following the Sabbath/holiday.

Extra charges:

Passengers will be charged NIS 4.0 per suitcase. Note: Price control does not apply to luggage that is not a suitcase.

For a third passenger (over the age of 5) an additional sum of NIS 4.4 will be charged.

When using a toll road (Road No. 6) an additional sum of NIS 15.1 will be charged.

Note: The ruling version is that which appears in the Traffic Regulations and in the Commodities and Services Price Control Order.
