Biometric Passport Control Check

Introduction:

In order to improve the service to the passengers at Ben Gurion Airport, the Airports Authority operates a border control service using a biometric system.

This fast lane passport control is done by means of a biometric reading of the back of the hand. In this process, approved by the Ministry of the Interior, the passenger’s passport is not stamped and the crossing will be carried out at unmanned stations

The advantages of the method are in the improvement of the service to the passenger, by shortening the time required to wait for border control.

Passengers interested in benefiting from this unique service at BGA, are required to comply with the following requirements:

  1. Be in possession of a valid passport.
  2. Be 18 years of age or older.

The registration for this service is carried out at a counter located in the Departures Hall.

The Airports Authority (“The Authority”) operates a biometric border control service, by a system which reads an image of the back of the hand.

The system contributes to the improvement of services to you, the passenger, as you go through border control in Terminal 3 at BGA, upon exiting and entering the country, by shortening the time required for this process.

The fast lane for border control is intended for you, the Israeli resident, if you have a valid Israeli passport, and your age is over 18 years. The service is subject to the technical limitations of the system and the directives of the Israel Police and the Ministry of the Interior, which may be changed from time to time.

  1. Registration Station - The counter situated in the passport control hall for outbound passengers, which is used for registration with the system.
  2. Kiosk - The border control registration station used for the fast lane border control when exiting and entering the State of Israel.

The system serves as a computerized border control station. Prior to the first use, the passenger must register with the system and thereafter it is possible to use the system throughout the registration period. The registration with the system will be carried out after completion of flight check-in, in the outbound passengers border control hall.

In order to register with the system, you must be in possession of a valid Israeli passport. A special card for operating the system will be issued to you at the registration station, at the time of registration.

On your next flight, go to the biometric registration station in the outbound passengers border control hall, in order to have your personal details and an image of the back of your hand entered into the system.

There is a possibility that, as a result of technical limitations of the system, (such as an unusual hand structure, that cannot be identified by the system) or as a result of the directives of the Israel Police or border control authorities, it will not be possible to register you with the system.

The hours of operation of the registration station at BGA will be in accordance with regular activity, with the exception of Saturdays and holidays.

Once you've completed your registration, you will be able to go through border control, both when exiting and when entering the country, at Terminal 3, BGA, by making use of the kiosk.

The hours of operation of the passenger kiosks are in accordance with the operation times of the Airport.

The special card that you received at the time of registration will be used upon your access to the kiosk.

Please keep in mind that when using this service, your passport will not be stamped with an exit stamp. Instead of a stamp in the passport, a printout of the exiting process is obtained.

Please keep this printout, as you may be required to present it upon your return to Israel, as proof of your mode of exiting the country. Upon returning to Israel, the system print out should be kept and presented to the border controllers when crossing from the border control hall to the arrivals hall.

Should the special card that you were given at the time of registration be damaged, you will have to present yourself at the Biometric System Registration Station in the outbound passengers hall, near the border control counters, in order to exchange the card, which involves a short process, at no cost. If you lose your special card, you will have to go to the Post Office Bank at BGA before going up to the border control hall, in order to obtain a form for a new card, against a payment of NIS 25, at the present time. (Price subject to change in the future, in accordance with the policies determined by the Authority.) After payment, a new card will be issued, at the time of registration.

Should the system and / or the kiosks not be operational at any particular point in time, you will have to undergo border control at a manned counter. In this case, the right to obtain any other fast lane service will not be granted.

You must inform the clerk at the registration station of any change in your personal details, especially when replacing your passport or extending its validity. This must be done at your next departure abroad, prior to using the kiosk, in order to update the system with respect to the new details, and to enable you to continue making use of the service.

The system is under supervision and operates in accordance with directives of the Israel Police and Border Control Authorities and the Authority will not be held responsible for any damage caused as a result of these directives or those that will be issued from time to time.

The authority has the right to cease, at any time and forthwith, whether temporarily or permanently, the use of the system and / or any of the kiosks linked to the system, as well as the right to change operating instructions and other instructions relating to the use of the system and the kiosks, at its sole discretion and without prior warning.

In any case, you will not have the right of allegation, demand or claim of any kind whatsoever, against the Authority as a result of your not being able to use the system and / or to a refund of monies of any kind whatsoever.

In any case of a defect or malfunction of your card – due to which you are prevented from using the system or the kiosk, the Authority will not be held responsible for any damage or hindrance that may be caused to you or damage or hindrance that was caused to you, as a result thereof.

Due to the fact that the information in the system is linked to data obtained from the Israel Border Police, then in any event of a malfunction of any kind during your use of the system, for any reason whatsoever, whether it is liable to cause you damage of any kind, and / or delay and / or other hindrance – you will not have any right of allegation, demand or claim against the Authority.

You must present yourself at the border control at such a time that will leave you sufficient time to undergo regular, manual border control, in the event of a malfunction.

The Management of the Airport wishes you enjoyable use of the service and a pleasant flight.
